News Just In: Heating Controls Included In Government Green Homes Grant Scheme

Drayton by Schneider Electric was very encouraged by this week’s announcement from the Government with details of the much anticipated Green Homes Grants.

What is the Green Home Grant?

Encouraging and supporting energy efficiency measures will be a key pillar of the UK’s plans to build back better. This new scheme aims to upgrade over 600,000 homes by covering two thirds of the cost of energy efficiency measures up to £10,000.

The design of the new scheme sees the Government continue its trend towards encouraging multiple measures and a holistic approach to energy efficiency. The recognition that insulation and heating system efficiency go hand in hand will no doubt be welcomed by the industry.

How will this affect homeowners, landlords and residents?

The Green Homes Grants will give homeowners, including owner occupiers and social/private landlords, vouchers to install one or more of the following:

  • solid wall, under-floor, cavity wall or roof insulation
  • air source or ground source heat pump
  • solar thermal

In addition, households can use their voucher for further energy saving measures. These include one or more of the following:

  • double or triple glazing/secondary glazing, when replacing single glazing
  • upgrading to energy efficient doors
  • hot water tank/appliance tank thermostats/heating controls

Our smart heating controls

Drayton by Schneider Electric are thrilled to see that heating controls, along with smart heating controls like Wiser, are included within the scheme. These technologies have a key role to play in reducing energy bills and carbon emissions, and ensuring our homes are future proof. We look forward to working with our partners, installers and customers to ensure that we maximise the impact of this scheme.

As the details of the Green Homes Grant scheme and its conditions are still emerging at this time, we'll keep this page updated with the latest information for homeowners and installers.
