Schneider Electric and Equiwatt Join Forces to Revolutionise Energy Savings
We are excited to announce a new collaboration with equiwatt, a leader in energy demand flexibility. This partnership represents a significant step forward for Schneider Electric and equiwatt. Together, we are innovating to empower UK households to actively participate in the country’s clean energy transition to net zero emissions. In the process, households can save energy, cut costs and earn rewards!
Empowering UK Households with Wiser Smart Home Devices
Through this partnership, UK customers using our Wiser smart home devices can now participate via the free equiwatt app in flexibility events that take the pressure off the grid during peak periods. This helps reduce our reliance on electricity generated by fossil fuels to plug the gap. Flexibility events include those run as part of the National Energy System Operator’s (NESO) Demand Flexibility Service (DFS).
Understanding the Demand Flexibility Service (DFS)
Launched in 2022 by NESO, a public corporation of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), the Demand Flexibility Service (DFS) rewards households and businesses for reducing their electricity usage during peak times, helping ensure a more balanced and sustainable energy grid.
More than 2.6 million homes and businesses took part in DFS events last year, saving enough energy to power over 12 million homes for a full hour!
Where Does Wiser Come In?
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Wiser. As part of Schneider Electric, recently named 2025’s Most Sustainable Corporation, we’re proud to help amplify the effectiveness of the simple yet high-impact DFS events.
During phase one of our collaboration, equiwatt integrated Wiser devices, including our Smart Plug. Smart Room Thermostat and Electrical Heat Switch, making them available via the equiwatt app which allows Wiser users to effortlessly participate in equiwatt’s powerSmart events. During an event, devices will automatically turn off or setpoints will reduce, in order to lower household electricity usage.
But they won’t just be saving money, Wiser customers will earn rewards in the form of points for reducing their electricity consumption. Points can be redeemed for eGift vouchers from more than 35 high street vendors, including Amazon, John Lewis, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Aldi and more.
