With an increase in the number of people working from home, the research carried out by OnePoll.com asked 2,000 people about the pros and cons of working from their own surroundings.
A spokesman for Drayton said: “Our research aims to shine a light on what it’s like to work from home – and as it shows, there are plenty of benefits.
“Arguably the biggest challenge they face is staying focussed because there are plenty of potential distractions, but analysis of our findings shows those who work from home feel they are as effective if not more effective as those who work in traditional workplaces such as offices.”
Being able to personalise the working environment was a key benefit for respondents. 25 per cent like to have music on and 75% have the heating on in the winter with the optimum temperature for working being 20 degrees Celsius.
However, 24 percent of people don’t put their heating on because they consider it to be too expensive, a waste of money, or because they begrudge having to heat the whole house when they only use one room. Read here for some neergy saving tips.
A spokesman for Drayton said: “Having the heating on can be somewhat of a dilemma because it is increasingly pricey, but no one wants to be cold all day when trying to get important work done.
“Other respondents are worried about the cost implications of having to heat an entire house when they’re only using one room.
“Heating systems such as WISER can resolve this by allowing you heat individual rooms. It’s a great solution that allows you to divide the home into zones and heat it more efficiently.”

The research found the largest proportion of those surveyed – 36 per cent – do all their work from the living room and 26 per cent do it from the home office but there are a few who even work from bed!
