What is a Smart Thermostat?

Wiser has its own array of automation features like our Smart Modes and Moments to help you maximise efficiency and convenience, but did you know you can also link Wiser to your IFTTT account to enhance your smart home experience further?
What is IFTTT?
IFTTT stands for If This Then That and is a third-party digital automation tool for connecting apps, services, and smart devices together to enhance your smart home experience.
By linking your Wiser and IFTTT accounts, you can use the Applets to create ‘actions’ and ‘triggers’ so that certain conditions can be activated to suit your routine. When you connect your smart thermostats up to IFTTT, the triggers and subsequent actions are called ‘recipes’.
How does IFTTT integration with Wiser save energy?
Never again waste energy heating an empty home
By integrating Wiser with IFTTT and utilising the Applets available online, you can enable geofencing to automatically enable Wiser’s Away Mode when you and your smartphone leave the home, needing no interaction with the app. When you return, your devices will resume their pre-set schedules to warm things up and welcome you home.
Create an IFTTT account and download both geofencing applets to create this automation.
Save energy while on holiday
You can trigger your Wiser system to enter our energy-saving Away Mode when you and your smart phone leave the house. Your heating will remain at a minimum level (set by you) and won’t be triggered until you arrive home, giving you peace of mind to enjoy your trip.
Save energy while you’re at work
Geofencing not right for your household? Thanks to IFTTT Applets, you can also trigger Wiser’s Away Mode to turn on and off at specific times every day to avoid heating an empty home. If your daily routine is quite predictable, download the Applets and set the specific time you want Away Mode to turn on as you’re leaving, and on again for your return.
